Select Special Trout Management Areas Closing to Trout Angling
DFO advises anglers that Indian Bay, Middle Brook and Northwest Brook (Indian Bay) watersheds will close to trout angling effective Monday, August 9, 2010. This closure is part of the 2010 Management Measures that are in place for these Special Trout Management Areas.
Anglers are reminded that while angling for salmon in these areas, incidentally caught trout must be released.
Anglers are advised to consult 2010-2011 Angler's Guide for more detailed descriptions of these watersheds and additional management measures.

Retention Fishery on Main Stem of Mid-Exploits River
DFO advises anglers that based on the recent mid-season review of returns, the main stem of the mid-Exploits river, from the Grand Falls fishway to the Abitibi-Bowater steel bridge below Red Indian Lake dam, will open to retention angling one hour before sunrise on Friday, July 16, 2010. This section will have Class III designation permitting the retention of two small salmon. Red tags must be used.
Anglers are also reminded, the section of the main stem of the Exploits river, below Red Indian Lake Dam, downstream to the Abitibi-Bowater steel bridge, will close to retention angling, on Thursday, July 15, 2010. On Friday, July 16, 2010, catch and release angling only is permitted on this section of the river.

Ten Mile Lake Closing July 15, 2010
DFO reminds anglers that as per the management plan, Ten Mile Lake, Round Lake and the tributaries flowing into and out of Ten Mile Lake and Round Lake and the St. Genevieve River system on the Northern Peninsula will close to all angling Thursday, July 15, 2010.
St. Genevieve River, from its source (the outlet of Ten Mile Lake) to the river mouth will remain open to salmon angling until Tuesday September 7, 2010.
Roses Feeder and Manuels Feeder (tributaries of the St. Genevieve River), remain closed to all fishing.

Salmon retention levels change for Flat Bay Brook and a portion of Harry's River
DFO advises that in accordance with the Salmon Watershed Management Plan for Bay St. George Rivers and following an in-season review, changes will be implemented to retention levels for Flat Bay Brook and the main stem of the Harry's River.
Retention levels for the main stem of Harry's River, from Home Pool downstream to the river mouth and Flat Bay Brook will change from two-fish retention to four-fish retention as of one hour before sunrise, Saturday, July 10, 2010.

the remainder of the 2010 season.

Ten Mile Lake, Round Lake and the St. Genevieve River System
DFO advises anglers that the following management measures are in place for Ten Mile Lake, Round Lake and the St. Genevieve River System and all the tributaries flowing in and out of these waters:
1) the daily bag limit for trout (includes speckled trout, brown trout, rainbow trout and ouananiche) is two fish, the weight (or the combined weight) of any fish retained cannot exceed 5 lbs.
2) Manual's Feeder and Rose's Feeder, are closed to all fishing.
3) trout greater than 58 cm in length must be released.
4) the possession limit is the daily bag limit.
DFO reminds anglers to consult the 2010/2011 Angler's Guide for additional management measures for this watershed.

Trout Season Opened in Insular Newfoundland - Saturday, May 15, 2010
DFO advises that the 2010 summer trout season for Zone 1 (insular
Newfoundland) opened on Saturday, May 15, 2010, and will remain open until Tuesday, September 7, 2010.
Bag limits and possession limits for insular Newfoundland remain
unchanged: daily bag limit for trout (includes speckled trout, brown trout, rainbow and Ouananiche) is 12 trout or 5 pounds (2.27 kg) + 1 trout, round weight (whichever limit is reached first of all species combined); possession limit is twice the daily bag limit.
Special management areas which opened on Saturday, May 15, 2010 include Indian Bay Watershed, Northwest Brook Watershed and Middle Brook Watershed.
Management measures for these areas remain in place.

Arctic Char Bag Limit Changed
DFO advises that the bag limit for Arctic Char on Northwest River, Bay d'Espoir has been changed for 2010.
There will be no bag limit for Arctic Char from the DFO caution signs to the hydro plant tailrace. This change in the bag limit applies to this specific section only, as outlined.
